CogSciSci discord server.

CogSciSci’s founding principle was to help connect teachers who wanted to explore the use of cognitive science principles in the teaching of science. The google group, social media and website have all been built with that aim.

Over the last few years engagement in the social media side of CogSciSci has waned. This is predominantly due to the changes that have occurred on twitter. We want to remain an accessible collective to support teachers with both the complex, like CPD and conferences, and the mundane, like asking a question about the number of hours your school gives to science a fortnight. More than ever science teachers and educational researchers need a place where structured and nuanced debate about classroom practice can happen. We also want to create a repository of these discussions so as teachers gain awareness they can easily find the discussions that have been had previously on a particular topic.

We looked at a number of different options and it seems the best platform to provide us with a basic forum type experience for free is discord. So we have set up the CogSciSci discord server. This is a place that you can go to discuss any issues you have around science education and/or the use of CogSci with your fellow members.

Who is CogSciSci open to?

CogSciSci was set up to support science teachers in the effective use of cognitive science in science education, but you do not have to be an active science teacher to join. We try to be a broad church and welcome anyone that wants to discuss these issues in good faith.

How do I join?

Yes it is a bit of a faff to establish these things but we are hopeful that once a community is built we can create a space whereby people can come to share ideas, get support and possibly even have a bit of fun.
